Description

In the descent of the Col de Leques the Frenchman Anthony Perez crashed into his own team leader's car due to a flat tyre and crashed. In the process, Perez broke a collarbone. The curious part was that the French rider, who was in the breakaway with Jérôme Cousin and Benoît Cosnefroy at the start of the stage, had collected enough points at that stage to be able to wear the polka dot jersey at the end of the day. Because he did not finish Cosnefroy finally got the jersey.
