Description

Jonas Vingegaard: "On the Col du Granon, I tried to make the race as hard as possible. That col is a beast of a climb. Incredibly tough. I don't think I know or have ever conquered a tougher climb as a finish col. I noticed this during the recon. I knew there was a steep section coming about 4.5 kilometres from the summit. That point I had in my mind to attack. I felt good and had the legs to follow up with that plan. Honestly, I also think this was one of my best days on the bike ever. It was surprising that Tadej Pogacar couldn't follow me. Normally he jumps on your wheel right away, but this time he didn't even try to follow me. As a result, I knew this was my big chance. After that, I gave everything until the finish. Not only was it my first stage win in the Tour, but it also gave me my first yellow jersey. A day I will never forget."
