Description
NOT PAVED, ONLY GRAVEL!!!
The road was inaugurated in 1962. access from the Italian side starts from the village of Bardonecchia with asphalt road to Rochemolles and dirt road to the hill. This road reaches the highest altitude of the entire chain of the Alps: according to some 3,009 metres above sea level. Actually that was the altitude reached until a few years ago. Currently a barrier has been placed at the end of the car park (and at the border), so the maximum altitude reached by car is 2,991 metres above sea level. It should also be noted that the fact that the barrier is at the border is the subject of discussion: the Italian maps show the border a few dozen metres further on, at the pass (which is 2,993 metres).
