Beschreibung
The climb of Courchevel has in the Tour de France three times, in 1997, 2000 and 2005. The finish was always at the Altiport which is 300 meters higher than Courchevel 1850. In 1997, Richard Virenque won this stage just ahead of Jan Ullrich. In 2000, the victory went to Marco Pantani alone. Finally, in 2005, Lance Armstrong and Alejandro Valverde dropped Michael Rasmussen and Francisco Mancebo in the last hectometers before the Spaniard won the sprint in front of the Texas rider.
Every summer, it is possible to climb the Carrey up to the Altiport by being timed as part of the Cyclocourch. Since 2018, a tarred track has been providing access to the Col de la Loze (2304 metres) from the Pralong mountain pastures.
