Beschreibung
In 1973, the col from the direction of Foix was included in the route of the Tour de France, but Luis Ocaña, after a very difficult Tour, convinced the organizers because of a too dangerous descent (the Mur) to skip the climb. The route was then modified.
In the 14th stage of the Tour de France 2012 the mur de Péguère was on the program again. Sandy Casar was the first rider to cross the top. However, the race was disfigured by the fact that nails had been sprinkled on the road. This caused more than 30 riders in the peloton to puncture.
The difficult climb of the Péguère was central again in the 13th stage of the Tour in 2017. The final winner of the stage, Warren Barguil, was the first to pass the top this time. The riders then went downhill in the direction of Foix.
