Beschreibung
Located in the heart of Paris, Montmartre is the city’s highest natural point and a place rich in cultural and historical significance. The climb towards the famous Sacré-Cœur Basilica via Rue Lepic offers a short but steep ascent through narrow, cobbled streets, blending the charm of old Paris with a challenging cycling effort.
Although rarely included in major professional races, Montmartre briefly became a focal point of international cycling during the 2024 Olympic Games, when both the men's and women's road races passed through the area. The route drew hundreds of thousands of spectators and inspired renewed interest in the climb’s sporting potential.
In 2025, Montmartre gained further prominence with its inclusion in the final stage of the Tour de France. Featuring three ascents in the closing circuit, the climb added a dynamic and unpredictable element to the race’s conclusion. With just 6 kilometres remaining after the final ascent, this section has the potential to reward explosive riders and leave a lasting mark on the race outcome.
