Beschreibung
The Keutenberg is notorious because it's the steepest climb in the Netherlands. In the past, the setting of less beautiful circumstances but luckily the organizers of the Amstel Gold Race gave it a boost. After the climb in 1990 degenerated into gigantic jamming of riders raking up on foot, stranded trailers and supporters who enthusiastically took over the narrow road, the Keutenberg was taken out of the race. Steven Rooks is held up in the race in 1990 by motards at the Keutenberg and calls the chaos 'race forgery'. Krott decides to cancel the Keutenberg and adds the Sint Pietersberg to the course. He moves the finish to the Maasboulevard in Maastricht.
It was not until seven years later that he returned to the Amstel Gold Race course. The public was no longer allowed, while only the neutral car and the jury were allowed to go up with the riders.
