This side is so steep at the top, that ridges have been cut into the concrete so vehicles can gain enough traction to climb it. This route is used in the Gran Fondo Stelvio and has sections at 25-30% near the top. After already cycling 11 kms at 11%, this is virtually unrideable for the many thousands who take part every year!
