Description
Coming from Colmar into the valley of Munster you will see a castle on your left, or rather a huge wall that evokes associations with a prison. This wall is the front of the Château du Haut-Landsbourg. The castle is not as famous as the Château du Haut-Kœnigsbourg further north, but the view from up there is also beautiful because of its prominent location. Perhaps because of this view, the castle was built in the 13th century by Colmar noblemen, destroyed at the end of the Thirty Years' War and only restored from 1985 onwards.
