Description
Urbiko Lepoa is a quiet and lesser-known climb in the Basque Country, offering a mix of steady gradients and steep ramps as it winds through the lush landscapes near the Aiako Harria Natural Park. Covering approximately 6 km with an average gradient of 6-7%, the climb follows a narrow and often rough road, making it a more isolated and rugged ascent compared to its neighbors, Aritxulegi and Agiña. Starting from the GI-3420 near Lesaka or Oiartzun, the climb begins with gentle slopes before quickly becoming more demanding. The gradients fluctuate, with several sections reaching 10-12%, testing both endurance and bike handling on the sometimes uneven surface. The dense forest provides shade for much of the route, creating a serene atmosphere with little traffic. Reaching the summit, riders are rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding mountains and rolling valleys of Navarre. Urbiko Lepoa is not the most famous climb in the region, but its quiet roads, challenging gradients, and untouched beauty make it a rewarding ride for those looking to explore beyond the well-known ascents of the Basque Country.
