In De Renner, Tim Krabbé describes the 1977 Tour of Mont Aigoual. Krabbé himself is a participant and his opponents in the book are real persons or composite characters. The Mont Aigoual from Meyrueis, the second loop of this route, is a 28-kilometre climb and not very steep. On top of 'the rain mountain' is a weather station where many tourists come for the insane views. The final stretch is a long descent with no real hairpin turns.
