Alpe d'Huez (TdF)

La pente moyenne de ce col est de 7.9% avec un maximum de 10%. Le Alpe d'Huez (TdF) monte de 754 mètres au départ à 1.850 mètres au sommet, pour un total de 1.096 mètres d'ascension.

L'Alpe d'Huez is climbed regularly in the Tour de France. It was first included in the race in 1952. That first Alpe d'Huez stage was won by Fausto Coppi. Coppi attacked 6 kilometres from the summit to rid himself of the French rider Jean Robic. He turned the Alpe into an instant legend because this was the year that motorcycle television crews first came to the Tour. It was also the Tour's first mountain-top finish.
The hairpin bends are named after the winners of stages. All hairpins had been named by the 22nd climb in 2001 so naming restarted at the bottom with Lance Armstrong's name added to Coppi's.

The peak is also finish of La Marmotte, a one-day, 175 km ride with 5,000 m of climbing.

Alpe d'HuZes 2006 - 2018
Alpe d'HuZes is a Dutch fundraising event in which people climb, either by bike or on foot, one of the main Tour de France mountains, the Alpe d'Huez, for a maximum of six times in succession under the motto "Never, ever quit!". The name, Alpe d'HuZes, is a combination of the name of the mountain and the word 'zes', which means 'six' in Dutch. The aim of the event is to raise money for research into cancer. Alpe d'HuZes adheres to a strict no-overhead policy: the event runs on volunteers and all costs are borne by the participants themselves. In other words, each euro donated will be one euro donated to the Dutch Cancer Society (KWF) / Alpe d'HuZes fund.
