Descrizione
The history of the village is closely linked to the quarries that were established there from the 1870s onwards. Between 1922 and 1924, the then owner of the quarries, Basalt AG, Linz am Rhein, built a workers' settlement for the quarry employees, the colony, out of basalt stones according to plans by the architectural firm Mattar & Scheler. The complex is still largely in its original condition.
