Beschrijving
The Col de la Couillole was climbed on the 1975 Tour de France during the famous Nice-Pra-Loup stage, legendary for the failure of Eddy Merckx and the takeover of Bernard Thévenet. Lucien Van Impe crossed the pass in the lead.
This pass was the finish of the 7th stage of the Paris-Nice 2017, the highest stage finish of the Paris-Nice in seventy-five editions of this race. Richie Porte won the stage after an attack with 3.3 km to go, he got out of the leading group composed of Daniel Martin and Alberto Contador, second of the stage. Sergio Henao, 4th in the stage, was delighted with the yellow jersey from Julian Alaphilippe, who had been dropped earlier in the climb.
