Beschrijving
In 1991 technical director of the Amstel Gold Race, Herman Krott changed the course quite a bit, after chaotic scenes in the previous edition. The many spectators on the steep Keutenberg made it impossible for the riders to pass each other. Steven Rooks is held up in the race in 1990 by motards at the Keutenberg and calls the chaos 'race forgery'. Krott decides to cancel the Keutenberg and adds the Sint Pietersberg to the course. He moves the finish to the Maasboulevard in Maastricht. The first two years the Sint Pietersberg wasn't the last climb, that changed in 1993, when this climb was the last climb of the race.
