Opis
On the western flank of the Kemmelberg lies a French mass grave from the First World War. At the top of the climb is a memorial column for the fallen. But above all, there was that series of terrifying tumbles during the 2007 edition of Gent-Wevelgem, with several badly wounded cyclists being transported to a hospital. The call to remove the Kemmel from the course sounded, but the organizers had a better solution: a new descent via asphalt roads offered the ideal alternative to save the face of Gent-Wevelgem.
