This side of the Saint-Martin pass was climbed on the 1975 Tour de France during the famous Nice-Pra-Loup stage, legendary for the failure of Eddy Merckx and the takeover of Bernard Thévenet. Lucien Van Impe had crossed this pass in first place.
This side of the pass was on the programme for the 7th stage of the Paris-Nice 2017, classified in first category, between Nice and the Couillole pass.
