Descripción

Bordako Tontorra has shot to fame as a cycling climb in the last few years, largely thanks to its inclusion as the final and decisive climb in the San Sebastían Classic races of 2014 and 2015. In 2014 a few riders managed to gain a gap on Bordako Tontorra, before Alejandro Valverde won the race by attacking on the descent into San Sebastían. In 2015 the race turned into something of a farce on the climb. Firstly there was no television coverage due to problems with the aeroplane providing transmission support. Secondly, a motorcycle clipped the wheel of Greg Van Avermaet just as the Belgian rider had launched a potentially decisive attack. Adam Yates ended up winning the classic, taking advantage of hesitation in the chasing group on the descent. These incidents made the organisation descide to remove the climb from the race and chose for the less steeper Murgil Bidea.
