Descripción
Leaving Sierre - Switzerland's sunniest town - the route climbs through the vineyards typical of the Rhône Valley. You pass through the small villages of Veyras and Venthône before gradually slipping into a more mountainous environment. The steady slope leaves little room for respite, and the few shady sections of the climb provide welcome refreshment in summer when the sun floods the mountainside. After the Aminona station, the route forks to the right and the road becomes narrower. The final straight stretch to the Crans-Montana pass at Mayen de Colombire offers a fantastic view of the Weisshorn.
