Descripción
The Côte de la Haute-Levée is a climb of 3,600 meters with an average gradient of 5.6% and a portion of 12% at the start of the slope. An annoying climb is that, on a busy, straight road between Stavelot and Francorchamps. On 29 June 1998, a truck loaded with paint got into trouble on a full descent towards Stavelot when the brakes failed. The danger exploded into the center of the town, which was followed by a number of explosions. Two people died, 71 were injured and 20 houses were razed to the ground.
