Descripción
From 1998 till 2018 this was the last official climb of Liege-Bastogne-Liege. It was an important addition by the organizers to include this tough climb in the route just before the finish. This removed the Redoute's spotlights and promoted the "waiting game".
The climb is nicknamed "The Italian Hill" because of the composition of the immigrant population and their descendants (often from Sicily and southern Italy) who live around this slope. Their presence is mainly reflected in the many Italian flags hanging outside the windows, especially during the competition day of Liège-Bastogne-Liège.
At house number 256 Frank Vandenbroucke attacked and left Michael Boogerd standing, to arrive alone in Ans not much later and win the Liege Bastogne Liege edition of 1999.
