It hosted the arrival of the fourteenth stage of the 1998 Giro d'Italia, in which Marco Pantani won. In the nineteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia 2017, the final climb was classified in first category. Mikel Landa won this stage with his best climber jersey whereas Nairo Quintana took the pink jersey from Tom Dumoulin and Thibaut Pinot was still closer to the podium. But the gap between the leaders of the overall classification was closing.
