Descripción
Organiser Herman Krott had originally wanted the Amstel Gold Race to finish in Simpelveld. The parties did not reach an agreement, so that the only Dutch cycling classic never ended at De Huls.
It was also part of perhaps the toughest Dutch Championship ever. In 1976, the riders had to go over this steep slope in Limburg 31 times.
In 2019 the Huls was chosen as the most photogenic cycling spot of Simpelveld in Tour de Limbourg.
The first 400 meters where previously part of the Profronde van Simpelveld.
